iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak (UNTETHERED) W00T Redsn0w

Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for any damage done to your iDevice, (even though nothing will happen) but just in case you do, in abbreviated terms (You F**k up dont sue me!) As long as you follow my instructions to the letter all should be fine

Step 1. Download Redsn0w from the iPhone dev team blog, under the thread untethered holidays Dev-Team Blog dont worry its virus free!

Use Beta 3 or the latest release


Step 2. Extract Redsn0w to the desktop and ignore the boot ipt4g shortcut!

Step 3. Now here is where we should stop, if you are on windows vista or above i.e. 7 right click on properties and click on the compatibility tab and select run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP service pack 3, if running on WinXP make sure you have updated it through windows update as much as you can!

Step 4. Now run redsn0w and click jailbreak (WARNING, MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON IOS 5.0.1 NOT iOS 5.0 or lower.) Then follow the instructions on screen until you see the exploiting with Limera1n/Waiting for reboot. Now depending on what device you have the next step maybe different, if you want an unlock but never want to update your iDevice again and risk bricking it totally Click Install iPad baseband and look at the warning message that appears, But if you just want the jailbreak click install cydia.

You may also see the install multitasking gestures checkbox, ONLY IF ON IPAD SHOULD YOU USE THIS, Otherwise it will make you do this to your iPod

Now you will see this screen when you click next

Step 5. then your iDevice will display scrolling code, THIS IS NORMAL, be aware if you are using this on an iPhone 3GS you may see this line of code

and your iPhone may appear stuck.

Just unplug iPhone from redsn0w for 5-15 seconds (doesnt really matter how long) and plug straight back in DO NOT CLOSE REDSN0W AT ALL Otherwise your iPhone will be stuck on the same screen.
(If you didnt read this and went straight ahead and shut everything down, or suddenly decide you dont want to jailbreak anymore, dont worry just unplug iPhone and do what the photo says here

Step 6 You should see this screen if no problems have occured yet and your iPhone hasn't frozen

DO NOT TURN IPHONE OFF ON THIS SCREEN!

then just slide to unlock and you will see cydia, BUT DO NOT OPEN YET!

Do this step again until you see the apple logo ->

then on reboot theres 2 more steps before your done.

Step 7/ 1st step before end Open Cydia.

And answer 1 of these 3 questions

Do you want to make your iPhone look awesome and nothing else/new to jailbreaking
Then click user.
